May-ïka Madness
Celebrating Birthdays, Mental Health, and Haitian Heritage!
So guess what? It's officially May-ïka – my birthday month! But you know what's even cooler? It's Mental Awareness Month and Haitian Heritage Month too! May is just a great month indeed!
I've been taking it easy lately, just minding my own business and riding the wave of change. It's wild how life speeds up as you approach the end of your 20s, right? I've been doing a ton of reflecting and shifting gears.
This month, I'm shining the spotlight on my birthday twin, Mitch, a fellow Haitian sis. Her mix is the ultimate vibe for those chill cleanup days or when you're just kicking back with a glass of wine.
And hey, since it's Mental Health Awareness Month, I've got some recommendations for you. Check out A Safe Space Mentor for some seriously relaxing activities and free therapy sessions. Need to clear your head? Give Hike Clerb and Hikerkind a shot for some time away in nature. And for extra support and camaraderie, hit up Sad Girls Club and Transparent and Black.
Now, let's talk Haitian Heritage Month! Join me this Wednesday for an epic performance by BélO, courtesy of the Haiti Culture Exchange. It's gonna be lit!
Oh, and mark your calendars because from May 10th to the 26th, it's Haitian Restaurant Week! Wherever you are, make sure to get your hands on some Haitian deliciousness. In NYC, you can't go wrong with spots like Joenise, Lakou Cafe, BunNan, and Rebel.
Here's to an amazing month ahead! 🥂🍾
